Quebec Cardinal appointed to top Vatican job…
Outspoken Cardinal Marc Ouellet has been appointed Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops. The congregation is one of nine at the Vatican and makes recommendations to the Pope on which priests should be elevated to the rank of bishop. Cardinal Ouellet currently serves as the primate of the Catholic Church in Canada.

Court won’t stop Vatican suit…
The US Supreme Court refused to review a Vatican appeal to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the Holy See of concealing alleged sexual abuse by a priest. The lawsuit, filed in 2002, accuses the Vatican and US Church officials of protecting Fr. Andrew Ronan by transferring him for diocese to diocese while being aware of the allegations against him.
